| Robert Ferguson Book |
While his favorite artist today is the American impressionist William Meritt Chase, Ferguson’s own unique personal style has evolved through many influences. As a young man he aspired to paint like Goya, until he saw the Monets and Renoirs at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. His fascination with their fresh and spontaneous approach to color, and their ability to evoke a time and place, initiated his pursuit of a style which captures the moment in the intense colors of natural light. It was this quest to explore the possibilities of light and color that drove Ferguson to abandon his New York career as a commercial artist and return to San Diego where he could paint year around
